Visiting Tanzania in February

Weather and landscape

A13BCFFE-CE75-4C5D-8956-7CC01EE3B6C7_edited.jpg

In Tanzania, what is the weather like in February? It all depends on where you are! The mainland has temperatures ranging from a cool 16°C (bring a jacket!) to a pleasant 29°C. If you plan on visiting one of our island paradises, expect temperatures to range from 23°C to 32°C. Make sure you have sunscreen on hand!

Because February signals the conclusion of our brief rains, everything is lush, green, and humid. You may want to bring a raincoat for the sporadic showers, but it's worth coming at this time of year because the view is breathtaking. You'll also benefit from the most average hours of sunshine we get all year, which means the best photographic circumstances accessible anywhere in the country!

A place to stay in February

Tanzania is a traveler's paradise, with a plethora of wonderful lodging alternatives to select from. February is prime season for the Northern and Eastern circuits, so accommodations might fill up quickly.

However, the Southern and Western circuits are much less crowded in February, so it depends on where you want to go. If you require assistance, please contact us and we will assist you in selecting the trip of a lifetime!

Don't you think the once-in-a-lifetime sighting should be carefully timed? So, when is the greatest time to witness the Great Migration? February is a fantastic time to observe the migration in action, and it's also the best time of year to see some calving. You could get to see a wildebeest calf being born!

It's a great time to observe some newborn calves, and with more newborns comes more sightings of the predators that hunt them. Nothing surpasses the thrill of seeing a hunt in the wild, and if you come to visit us in February, your chances of seeing one are fantastic!

The mountain awaits you because your heart is bent on adventure. When, though, is the greatest season to climb Mount Kilimanjaro? February is an excellent month for your climb because it is warm and you have bright, sunny skies in the mornings and nights, which enhances the beauty of the scenery. The afternoons are often cloudy, with the possibility of rain.

The month of February is probably the warmest on the mountain, which is lovely - but it may get congested as trekkers throng to Mount Kilimanjaro in February. Make sure to plan your journey with us well in advance so you can take advantage of climbing during the warmest month.

Game drives, wildlife and birds in February

Do you enjoy watching birds? Tanzania is one of the greatest places to visit in February! So many migrating birds are visible and magnificent in their full breeding plumage, and bird-watching is at its best, especially in Tarangire National Park.

Birds appreciate the increased amount of insects during the wet season, but humans do not - bring some bug repellent to be safe! Oh, and since it's calving season, your chances of seeing babies are good.

Zanzibar Island in February

February is one of our favourite times to visit Zanzibar. Let your worries melt away in the deliciously warm weather, with temperatures averaging a summery 35°C most days and cool down in the vibrant blue lagoons and bays populating Zanzibar’s coast.

The Zanzibar Archipelago is also fantastic for exploring: February is the perfect time to explore the seas to see pods of dolphins, take a tour of UNESCO World Heritage Site Stone Town, or even take a tour of the spice farms to see where the Spice Islands got their name from!

Mafia Island in February

Tropical Island

Mafia Island is a delightful, warm, and welcoming spot. February in Mafia is hot, humid, and bright. Relax on Mafia's tiny beaches or beat the heat by diving and discovering the wonderful maritime ecology that surrounds the island.

The tremendous number of birds that take to the skies in February is one of the most beautiful aspects of southern Tanzania. In Tanzania, the early half of the year is nesting season for migratory birds, therefore there is a lot of avian activity in the national parks.

When you combine the beautiful foliage of Ruaha, Tarangire, and Nyerere in full bloom, you have an exquisite explosion of colors for you if you visit Tanzania's Southern Circuit in February.

If you enjoy birdwatching, February is an excellent time to visit Ruaha National Park. Migratory birds return in full breeding plumage, providing bird enthusiasts with a spectacular spectacle. They feed on the various insects available, which is great for photography, but you should have some repellent with you.

The southern circuit is usually less crowded in February, making it an excellent time to enjoy some peace while observing animals in our beautiful parks.

In February, you can enjoy the wonderful sight of the park's wildlife in full bloom. Because the park is more popular during the dry season, visiting in February will provide you with a more intimate experience. If you enjoy bird watching, February is a good time to visit the park because it is peak migration season.

In February, the Mahale National Park resembles a primordial forest. While the chimps, the park's best famous residents, are higher in the mountains in February, the densely forested and secluded park offers a view of nature untouched by humans, with its flora flush and flowering from rain.
